Roles & Responsibility:
Day to day duties of the incumbent would be as follows:
• Transport authorized personnel to/from airports, meetings/appointments, and other official duties.
• Transport authorized personnel and other officials in business travel throughout Zimbabwe (outside of urban areas).
• Drive office vehicles, ensuring the safety of staff and passengers, vehicle, and other road users,
• Transport and delivery of mail, documents, and other items.
• Meet official personnel, including mission staff, at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities.
• Maintain assigned vehicle with routine checks as per inspection checklist.
• Perform minor repairs and ensure the vehicle’s cleanliness, including arranging for other repairs as needed.
• Keep the vehicle clean (interior and exterior), assist passengers with safety belts, and ensure the First Aid kit is stocked and within expiry.
• Log official trips according to World Bank policies, including details like mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance.
• Ensure the vehicle’s documentation, including insurance, is current.
• Observe traffic rules and security information from supervisors for safe driving.
• Maintain passenger confidentiality and report accidents or incidents immediately, following required procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Selection Criteria
• Minimum of 5 ‘O’ levels and least 5 years of professional driving experience (urban and field experience).
• Excellent knowledge of road safety.
• Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
• Experience with an International organization, knowledge of UN security system procedures and conversant with VHF Radio call will be an added advantage.
• Must have a no-fault record for a road accident within the previous three (3) years.
• Committed team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural/disciplinary environment and able to produce high-quality work under pressure.
• Must be adequately trained in various areas, including but not limited to: first aid skills, fuel-efficient driving techniques (avoiding sudden braking or accelerating), defensive driving techniques (such as anti-carjacking), and proficient in handling emergency devices (e.g., fire suppression equipment). Additionally, the individual should possess comprehensive knowledge of the vehicle’s functions.
• Ability and flexibility to work long hours and weekends.
• Personal commitment and high level of integrity.
• Knowledge of general software applications e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Must provide a fit to drive medical clearance from a licensed local practitioner.
Essential Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Competencies
• Good decision-making skills demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness and effective time management skills.
• Committed team player with demonstrated inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to follow through on team priorities in the absence of the team leader and respond to requests for information.
• Familiarity with Harare roads and environments, as well as field experience in road network in Zimbabwe in general.
• Familiar with traffic rules and highway code.
• Must have a valid driving license, certificates in defensive driving.
