The primary objective of setting up the college was first as a stop gap measure to develop necessary skills to ensure continuity in port operations after the collapse of East African Railways and Harbours Corporation.
Job Specification:
- Reporting to the Senior Trainer, the Trainer is responsible for training Students under the provisions of the respective School. The Trainer will be responsible for the delivery of training programmes in adherence to the provisions of the Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018, and any other International Conventions and National Legislation relating to training on cargo handling equipment. The Trainer will assist in conducting practical training in cargo handling equipment, repairs and maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in: –
- Designing, developing and delivering of training programmes
- The development of Maritime Transport Operations Training policies Developing and reviewing curriculum
- Developing the school calendar and time tabling
- The development, evaluation of teaching, learning and assessment materials Supervising trainees’ Practical sessions
- Marking internal examinations
- Maintaining students’ attendance and performance records
- Ensuring cargo handling equipment are well maintained and in working condition
Person Specification:
- For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from a University recognized in Kenya National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) registered Trainer
- Class G Driving license by NTSA
- Certificate on safety in cargo handling equipment will be an added advantage Training of Trainers certification
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
- Successful candidates will be required to submit valid compliance certificates from Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, Higher Education Loans Board and a certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations before commencement of the employment contract.
