Job Purpose Statement 

To enable the execution of Compliance Risk Management processes and activities within EBKL to ensure that business is undertaken in a compliant manner to avoid operational losses, fines, penalties or reputational damage to the organization and enable the competitive advantage of the bank. The job involves enterprise-wide coordination of identification and management of all compliance risks and will include propagating, monitoring and reporting on compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor governance policies and frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Support the organization in compliance audits and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Track changes in regulatory requirements and update policies accordingly.
  • Conduct compliance checks and assist in preparing audit responses.
  •  Support risk assessments and maintain risk registers.
  • Work closely with senior managers to align governance strategies with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of governance standards.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up reports.
  •  Maintain accurate records of governance documentation
  • Supervise and review report on Post Investigation Actions on AML analysts work, Sanction screening and transaction screening done within a month.
  • Customer risk assessment and scoring on a T+1 basis after onboarding.
  • Maintain an organized repository of policies and related documents.
  • Make a follow up on closure of compliance obligation like PEPs screening.
  • Do research on current happenings in the market that can affect bank’s compliance due to regulations.
  • Monitor adherence to established frameworks and escalate non-compliance

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills 

  • First Degree
  • Professional certification

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Good working knowledge of financial sector environment and procedures.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the legislative and regulatory requirements as it relates to financial institutions as well as internal compliance related policies and procedures.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience within financial crime compliance

Technical Competences 

  • Analytics, Business intelligence, financial analysis
