The Science Officer (Research Registration and Clearance) provides assistance in the clearance of study protocols submitted to UNCST, and issuance of a research permits in accordance with the National Research Guidelines and applicable laws related to research regulations.
Key duties and responsibilities:
a. Real time completeness check of study protocols and assign them to the respective personnel for further actions;
b. Track all study protocols submitted and regularly update Principal Investigators on their progress;
c. Assist in tracking study expiry and send out reminders to Principal Investigators for their action;
d. Compile documentation of registered studies to be submitted to the Research Secretariat for Clearance;
e. Dispatch Research permits from the Office of the President to the respective Principal Investigators;
Key Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Humanities and social sciences, Statistics, physical or life sciences, Public Health, Environmental Science or any related field;
• Training in Research ethics is an added advantage;
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the same or a similar field;
• Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders; • Computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and database management skills;
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Not more than 35 years of age.
