BACKGROUND  OF SSURA

South Sudanese Refugee Association  (SSURA)  is a registered  non-profit  community based refugee-led organization incorporated as a company by guarantee by Uganda Registration Service Bureau Reg.#80020002855962 and operating in Arua,  Koboko and Yumbe.Founded  Koboko-Uganda in September 2016 mindful of the need to protect and promote psychosocial wellbeing, prevent mental health disorders, promote reconciliation and peaceful co-existence among the refugees and host communities, promotion and creation  of economic activities  for  self-reliance,  advocacy  and awareness on  legal protection  issue  for registered refugees who have moved to urban areas and in the refugee settlements.

ABOUT TIDS JOB

  • We are seeking a Field Assistant to support program implementation at our Yumbe duty station. The Field Assistant will play a key role in coordinating field activities, engaging with communities,  and supporting data collection and reporting processes. The purpose of this position is to ensure smooth execution of field-level operations,   facilitate   communication    between   the  organization    and  beneficiaries,    and  contribute   to  the effective  delivery  of project  goals in the region.

Duties:

Supportthe implementation of field activities

– Assist  in carrying  out planned  project  activities  in the field,  ensuring  they are executed effectively  and on time.

Mobilize and sensitize communities

– Engage  with local communities  to raise awareness  about the project  and encourage participation   and cooperation.

Conductfield monitoringvisits

–  Visit project  sites regularly  to observe  progress,  identify  challenges,  and gather feedback  from beneficiaries.

Facilitatedatacollection and reporting

–  Collect  accurate  data from the field,  complete  necessary  forms,  and submit  timely reports  to supervisors.

Act as a liaison with the community

–  Serve as a point of contact  between  the organization  and community  stakeholders, ensuring  clear communication   and understanding.

Coordinatefield meetings and activities

–  Help plan and organize  trainings,  meetings,  and distributions   in the community, ensuring  smooth  execution.

Identify and reportfield  challenges

= Monitor  field conditions  and quickly  report  any issues or risks that may impact project delivery.

Ensure   accountability    in field operations

–  Promote  transparency   and fairness  in all interactions  and ensure proper  handling  of resources  during  field activities.

Provide   logistical  support

– Assist  with the preparation  and transportation   of materials  and supplies  needed  for field work.

Maintain  proper   documentation

– Keep  accurate  records  of activities,  attendance,   and distributions  to support monitoring,   evaluation,  and reporting.

Any  assigned   activity   by the  supervisor.

Diploma in Agriculture, Social sciences, Social Work, Development  Studies, Community  Development, Peace  and  Conflict  Studies,  or  a related  field. Bachelors  in the  mentioned  fields will  be  an  added advantage.

“Skills  (Special training or Competences):”

  • Knowledge and use of a computer in all Microsoft packages is required.
  • Experience in community sensitization/mobilization/interpretation and community outreach is required.
  • Must know how to ride a motorbike. (Added advantage)
  • Good command of English language and knowledge of local languages.
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
  • Strong organizational and team working skills, cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of the NGO operations, experience and the dynamics of the humanitarian response is an added advantage.
  • Must be willing  and ready to reside within  the area of operation.
  • Team  player     &   flexible,    highly     approachable,     trustworthy    and   confidential,    good communication   and  interpersonal  skills.
