Ensure quality anesthesia training through identifying and/or creating curriculum in partnership with ETA ship-based anesthesia providers and external partners.
Ensure all anesthesia training projects are context specific and align with the education and health system strengthening goals for each partner country.
Collaborate with host nation universities and teaching institutions to identify and develop partnership opportunities.
Collaborate well with stakeholders, both within Mercy Ships and externally in African countries.
Utilize simulation technology to create appropriate training programs for host nation anesthesia providers and anesthesia students, both medical and nursing.
Create and facilitate a network of anesthesia providers and leaders within a country and across Mercy Ships partner countries.
Determine supplies and equipment needed for all ETA anesthesia education and training projects.
Identify, plan, and collaborate with other organizations for partnership opportunities, such as trainings, equipment donations, etc.
Maintains records and performs evaluations as necessary, of all training projects and donations, as directed by the Senior Director of Education, Training, and Advocacy, and Senior Program Design Director.
Document processes related to program delivery to increase effectiveness of future programs
Collaborate well with other International Programs departments and colleagues to ensure alignment.
Provide support for assessment, baseline assessment, and research, coordinating with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team, Program Design, and Country Engagement Team.
Prepare internal and final reports on projects in conjunction with the Senior Director of Education, Training, and Advocacy, and Programs Design/MELD in a timely manner
Represent Mercy Ships at anesthesia conferences and assist with recruiting for ETA anesthesia roles.
Attend and participate in all devotions, receptions and ETA functions as required.
Write blogs for public platforms describing ETA programs to help share/publicize the work of ETA

Keen interest in building anesthesia capacity in low-resource contexts through the development and deployment of anesthesia training programs.
Able to serve on board and/or visit host nation facilities for periods of time each year

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.
Current active medical or nursing license
Preference for anesthesiologist. but nurse anesthetist could be acceptable
At least 3 years of relevant anesthesia experience including recent work experience
Experience working and/or training in healthcare in resource-limited settings required
Experience in education, curriculum design and development, simulation preferred
Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding will be required within the first year
