To manage underwriting processes, assess and evaluate medical risks in line with company policies and procedures.
The following key outputs are required from this role.
- Endorsing and invoicing client accounts
- Timely response to customer within service charter standards
- Ensure completeness of insurance documentations
- Prepare premium computations and booking for pre-rated products
- Follow up renewal notices to ensure retention
- Check and sign underwriting documents
- Issue credit notes
- Enforce the credit control policy on receivables
- Maintain effective business relationships to ensure effective delivery of service
- Monitor service standards within the department to ensure high quality customer service is delivered.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental set guidelines
- Ensuring formal underwriting guidelines including rate, policy wording and reinsurance terms are complied with
- Intermediary and client visits
- Maintain and account for accountable documents in EDMS
- New medical scheme set ups- completion of contract files, payments, member lists etc.
- Prepare invoices for premium payment.
- Prepare underwriting department reports
- Respond to customer/intermediary queries and complaints
- Supervise, train and mentor underwriting assistants to ensure their skills are sharpened
- Support the claims and credit control staff on a day to day basis to ensure a seamless service to clients
- To liaise with intermediaries and maintain positive business partnerships.
- Ensuring formal underwriting guidelines including rate, policy wording and reinsurance terms are complied with
- Intermediary and client visits
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
