SAA is committed to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient agriculture that empowers smallholder farmers, restores ecosystems, and contributes to national food and nutrition security.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Program Coordinator – Regenerative Agriculture based in Kampala office, to support the implementation of sustainable land and soil management practices, with a focus on biochar technology and regenerative agriculture. The personnel will provide technical support to field teams, build capacity of farmers, and collaborate with research and development partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Champion the promotion, production, and application of biochar using low-cost, community-level kilns and lead training programs in regenerative practices such as composting, mulching, agroforestry, cover cropping, and minimal tillage.
  2. Build and strengthen collaborations with universities and research partners to conduct on-farm trials, analyze soil health, and document the climate and agronomic impacts of biochar-based interventions.
  3. Generate and manage field-level databases on farmer adoption, soil productivity, carbon sequestration potential, and GHG emission reductions.
  4. Lead the capacity development of Extension Workers, Community Association Traders and Commercial Community-Based Facilitators on sustainable soil fertility enhancement and biochar innovations.
  5. Organize farmer learning platforms, field days, and stakeholder workshops to promote inclusive knowledge sharing and connect local actors to emerging carbon markets.
  6. Facilitate multi-stakeholder partnerships involving local governments, NGOs, and the private sector to establish sustainable biochar supply chains and service delivery models.
  7. Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team to track implementation progress, gather field-level evidence, and contribute to baseline, midline, and impact assessments.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

At least 3-5 years’ experience in implementing sustainable agriculture programs.

Experience in biochar technology, regenerative agriculture, or climate-resilient farming is strongly preferred.
