About Empower-Nurture-Uplift:
ENU is a youth-led organization that provides socio-economic support to disadvantaged
women in the slums of Kampala and to adolescent girls in the rural areas of Uganda through
SRHR advocacy. Currently, our operations are centered around Naguru Go down slum, with
our flagship project about equipping teenage mothers with sustainable income earning skills
mentorship and personal development.
Job overview:
➢ The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the administrative,
communication and advocacy activities of our organization. This includes managing
documentation, coordinating communications, and assisting with advocacy efforts
focused on youth empowerment, social justice, and Sexual and Reproductive Health
and Rights (SRHR). The ideal candidate should be fluent in business English, have
strong organizational skills, and be passionate about making a difference in these
critical areas. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a university student to gain hands-on experience while contributing positively to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Administrative & Office Support:
● Maintain and update organizational records, files, and databases for projects and meetings
● Schedule meetings, manage calendars, and handle logistics for events.
● Coordinate logistics for events, training, and field activities.
● Track project deadlines and follow up on deliverables.
2. Communication & Documentation:
● Translate community feedback into concise reports or summaries.
● Draft meeting minutes, memos, letters, and press releases.
● Assist in preparing funding proposals and concept notes.
● Translate field insights into reports or impact stories.
3. Advocacy and community engagement support:
● Support planning and documentation of SRHR and youth policy
projects/campaigns
● Attend youth-related advocacy events and assist with mobilization.4. 5. ●
● Prepare content for campaigns promoting social justice and SRHR.
Liaise with youth groups and slum community leaders for program activities.
Design & Social Media Assistance:
Capture and organize event photos and testimonials for storytelling.
Create simple graphics for flyers, reports, and social media posts.
Assist in managing social media accounts and scheduling posts.
Document activities through photos, videos and testimonials.
Digital & Office tools Management:
Use Microsoft Office Suite to prepare reports, data sheets, and presentations.
Use simple graphic design tools to create posts, flyers and related social
media content
Organize and back up project files on cloud platforms (Google Drive,
Dropbox).
6. Professional Conduct:
● Communicate effectively with the team and external partners.
● Take initiative and adapt to dynamic community-based work.
● Manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and handle tasks with responsibility.
● Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Qualifications and competences:
● A current university student (preferably in the fields of Business
Administration, Social Work, or Mass Communication).
Fluent in written and spoken business English.
Strong writing and organizational skills.
Familiar with Microsoft Office and graphic design tools.
Passionate about youth advocacy, gender equality, and community
empowerment.
Resides in Kampala, preferably familiar with slum-based youth contexts.
