KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTING
1. Data Quality and Management
- Lead the design, digitization, and implementation of data collection tools aligned to project indicators and log frame.
- Establish and maintain databases for tracking outputs, outcomes, and early warning signals, integrating both scientific and indigenous knowledge.
- Enhance use of digital data management within the project that includes but not limited to use of Kobo Collect among others.
- Regularly review program data collection tools to ensure that tools provide required information on project specific indicators
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visual summaries using tools such as Power BI, Excel, and GIS.
- Implementing quarterly data quality assurance activities according to the M&E plan (eg data validation and verification, spot checks and cleaning).
- Conduct routine data analysis to generate evidence for adaptive programming and early action.
- Ensure timely updating of MEAL dashboards (eg, Power BI) and output trackers.
- Support the generation of data for quarterly, annual, and donor reports.
2. Capacity Building and Partner Support
- Train and mentor project staff, school and health center focal persons, DRR committees, and community structures on data collection and reporting.
- Provide ongoing technical support to partners in data management and use.
- Identify and address capacity gaps in data handling among implementing teams and local government actors.
- Document and share best practices and lessons learned from data use in anticipatory action and DRR.
3. Planning, Budgeting and Reporting
- Contribute to the development of MEAL plans and budgets for data-related activities and oversee the data management budget utilization, as well as ensure timely implementation data management activities.
- Support regular and accurate project performance reporting using the Project Reporting Information Management and Evidence System (PRIME)
- Support the MEAL Specialist and Project Coordinator in preparing accurate and timely project performance reports.
- Participate in baseline, and endline assessments, and ensure data is collected in line with ethical and safeguarding standards.
4. Communication and Coordination
- Maintain strong working relationships with district local government, CSOs, schools, and health centers.
- Ensure coordination with the government activities and structures in the implementation project data management related activities
- Create and sustain positive working relationships internally with other technical staff; externally with the district local government, external partners, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Department of Meteorology and OPM to align data systems with national EWS frameworks.
- Ensure child-friendly and inclusive data communication approaches are used in schools and communities.
To be a strong supporter and advocate for children in this role you will need to have
- At least a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in either Statistics, Social Sciences, IT, Development Studies and courses.
- An additional training in GIS, Power BI, or mobile data collection platforms is an added advantage
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in data management, preferably in climate resilience, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), or Anticipatory Action programming.
- Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical packages such as SPSS or STATA for data analysis.
- Proficiency in digital data collection tools (eg, Kobo Toolbox, ODK) and data visualization applications like Power BI, Excel, and GIS mapping.
- Experience working with District Local Government, schools, and health centers on data systems.
- Experience in training and mentoring community structures and children’s groups in data collection and use.
- Ability to establish and maintain conductive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a wider team.
- Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
- Commitment to child safeguarding and inclusive programming.
- Knowledge and experience in applying various survey methodologies for program monitoring and evaluation
- Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
- Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Excellent time management and planning capacity.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in Kasese District will be an added advantage.
