Vacancies Announcement – Mpigi
Special Children Special People (SCSP) is a community-based organisation committed to improving the lives of children and youth with disabilities through education, care, and family empowerment. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team in Mpigi for the following positions:
1. Children’s Warden
The Warden will oversee both residential and day care children, ensuring their safety, rehabilitation, welfare, and overall development in line with Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development guidelines for children’s homes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise children’s daily learning routines, hygiene, and welfare.
• Ensure adherence to child protection and care standards.
• Supervise team ensuring guidance and support to caregivers and volunteers.
• Maintain proper records and report to management regularly.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in Social Work or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children (special needs experience is an added advantage).
• Experience working in a rural or community-based setting.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Must be below 30 years old.
• Knowledge of Ministry of Gender children’s home regulations is required.
2. Head Teacher – Lower Primary
The Head Teacher will provide overall leadership to the lower primary section, ensuring quality teaching, inclusive education, and professional growth among staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and supervise teaching and support staff.
• Oversee curriculum implementation and assessment.
• Foster a supportive learning environment for all learners, including those with special needs.
• Build positive relationships with parents and the community.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum of a Diploma in Primary Education
• At least 2 years of teaching experience, with proven leadership experience.
• Experience working in a rural or inclusive education environment.
• Strong understanding of inclusive education principles.
3. Women Caretakers
Caretakers will assist in the daily care of children in both classrooms and dormitories, providing a safe, loving, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support feeding, hygiene, and daily routines for children.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in dormitories and classrooms.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and warden in caring for children with special needs.
Qualifications and Qualities:
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Loving, patient, and able to work well in a team.
• Experience working with children with disabilities or in a rural community setting is an added advantage.
