STAFF NURSE – BUSIA HEALTH CENTER IV

The Staff Nurse provides high-quality patient care within a clinical setting, supporting the healthcare team and, when required, serving as a team leader within established practice guidelines. The role involves delivering skilled nursing procedures, administering medications, supporting patient flow, coordinating services, and ensuring patient education and confidentiality while contributing to effective team collaboration and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

–      Perform skilled nursing procedures and provide care to stable patients.

–      Administer medications as prescribed and within the nurse’s scope of practice.

–     Conduct phlebotomy and initiate IV infusions when certified.

–     Document patient notes and medication administration according to protocol.

–     Provide patient and family education as directed by the clinical team.

–     Participate in team meetings, CMEs, and case conferences.

–     Assist in supervising other health workers such as HIV Medics, ART aides, interns, and support staff.

–     Support proper patient flow to minimize waiting time and may act as a team leader when assigned.

–     Assist with coordination of external services under the guidance of the nurse manager or case manager.

–     Organize and participate in community drug distribution and delivery activities.

–     Engage in stock management and ensure accurate reporting.

–     Maintain strict patient confidentiality and report significant changes in patient condition to the clinician.

–     Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

–     Minimum Diploma in nursing obtained from a reputable training institution.

–     Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council or Allied Health Professional Council.

–     Must have at least 3 years’ experience providing similar services in a reputable health facility or organization. He or

she must also have hands on experience in HIV prevention, care and management.
