General Description
Position Overview:
The Finance Manager office holder is to deliver a complete set of financials that accurately reflects the financial status of the company, implement and maintain the departmental policies and strategies within the guideline.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Duties
- Accountable for delivering a completed set of financial statements to the business by ensuring that the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flow and Statement of Changes in Equity are accurate and reflect the current financial status of the organization.
- Achieving financial results according to budget (profit & loss).
- Checking and authorizing all payments that go through the system and ensuring system and process integrity so that correct payments are made.
- Ensuring and checking control accounts are balanced.
- Responsible for the fixed asset register upkeep to ensure correct capturing and records.
- Building a GL recon file, checking all reconciliations and signing off to ensure financial integrity.
- Preparing monthly financial reports in order to monitor work and performance status, determine expenditure trends of the organization and provide input into strategic planning.
- Implementing credit control policy and coordinating and facilitating debt collection.
- Assisting the Chief Finance Officer in annual planning processes for budgets, staffing and operational matters in support of the achievement of organizational strategy and objectives.
- Coordinating financial policy, monitoring monthly reports and ensuring that they are submitted, and ensuring that management rules in force within the Group are applied within the Finance Department.
- Maintaining an accurate filing and record-keeping system for all financial statements and company documents.
- Preparing and monitoring financial forecasts.
- Monitoring financial details to ensure legal compliance.
- Analyzing revenue, expenses, cash flows and balance sheets.
- Ensuring that billing is done on time and participating in recovery of difficult clients.
- Responsible for all tax compliance.
- Facilitating internal, external and statutory audits.
- Ensuring that the company’s debtors book is fully reconciled with clients’ books.
- Ensuring that the company’s creditors book is fully reconciled with suppliers’ books.
- Providing advice to the company on investment decisions.
Managerial Duties
- Contributing as a member of the senior management team in a region to annual planning processes for budgets, marketing, staffing and operational matters.
- Participating in the execution of changes to procedures, policies and systems to facilitate expansion, compliance and scaling of the business.
- Adhering to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards, and monitoring compliance of own employees in this regard.
- Attending in-service training and seminars and participating in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills and comply with professional registration requirements.
- Performing supervisory responsibilities including conflict resolution (IR matters); encouraging team development through leadership and motivation; leading by example; involvement in disciplinary processes; monitoring time and attendance; and evaluating employee performance on work methods according to company policy and procedure.
- Performing investigations into and resolution of customer complaints to ensure a positive image of the organization by clients and patients and to promote the services of Lancet Laboratories.
- Attending and reporting on all department matters in management meetings.
- Managing ISO processes for the finance department and administration for all staff in the department.
- Managing a staff complement to ensure optimization of resources and productivity.
- Providing day-to-day direction and management of finance and accounts department and support functions to fulfil organizational objectives and achieve specific goals including maximization of profit and efficiency.
Administrative Duties
- Overseeing administrative functions of the company.
- Overseeing and conducting teaching, coaching, mentoring, training and motivation of admin personnel, interns and students in administration techniques, processes and systems, if assigned by Manager and deemed competent.
- Performing any other duty that may be assigned to the manager.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree in Business Administration (finance or a related field).
- Certification in any of the following: ACCA / CIMA / CPA (requirement).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant working experience in a similar role.
- Relevant management studies is an added advantage.
