Minimum QualificationApplicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Mathematics; or Geophysics; or Seismology; or Geology with (Mathematics; or Physics; or Chemistry); or Science and Technology with a bias in Physics plus a Masters Degree in Geophysics; or Seismology; or Geo-hazards from a recognized University/Institution.Working ExperienceApplicants should have six (6) years relevant working experience three (3) of which should have been served at Senior Seismologist; or Senior Geophysicist; or Senior Geologist level in Government or equivalent level of relevant experience from a reputable organization.Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Geophysics and Seismology for performing the following duties:-
– Supervising maintenance of earthquake recording stations;
– Supervising timely collection of earthquake data and production of quarterly and annual bulletins;
– Supervising generation of technical information to the public on matters related to earthquake occurrences in the country;
– Supervising geotechnical investigations and geohazard assessment with appropriate seismic survey technology;
– Carrying out basic research on the improvement locations of earthquake events;
– Training Seismologists in different techniques applied in earthquake data processing;
– Preparing work plans, budgets and performance reports for the Section;
– Supervising and appraising the Senior Officers in the Division.
