Minimum QualificationApplicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Management; or Conservation Biology; or BSc (Botany and Zoology); or Environmental Science; or Ecology plus a Masters Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University/Institution.Working ExperienceApplicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Principal Wildlife Officer in Government or equivalent level of relevant experience from a reputable organization.Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the for performing the following duties:-
– Leading the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, laws, standards and guidelines, plans, strategies, programs and projects on wildlife conservation;
– Coordinating the evaluation of Protected Area Management Plans’ implementation;
– Facilitating the collection, analysis and dissemination of information on wildlife conservation;
– Mainstreaming and integrating wildlife conservation issues into MDAs and Local Government policies, plans and programs;
– Leading the negotiation and implementation of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) on wildlife conservation;
– Facilitating the implementation of regional and international collaboration on wildlife conservation and management;
– Monitoring Statutory Agencies, Trust Agencies, Civil Society and Private Sector and ensuring compliance with the set standards on wildlife conservation;
– Leading the preparation of departmental work plans, budgets and reports;
– Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of policies, laws, standards and guidelines on wildlife conservation;
– Developing national, regional and international collaborative programs and partnership initiatives with Civil Society and private sector on conservation and sustainable development of wildlife;
