Coordinate planning & management of the engineering & maintenance operations, with analysis & management of departmental budgets, equipment performance, utilities usage, machine down time, spares inventory, championing technical research, innovation & reports to management.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
• Plan and ensuring the strict implementation of the maintenance program, to ensure that machinery, equipment and tools are in good working condition to enable production to meet targeted quantity and specification;
• Analysis of machinery performance, utilities usage, machine down-time, with statistical data by provision of maintenance reports for management review;
• Advice & monitor operations of externally contracted technical staff where appropriate.
• Control & minimize incidence of wastage within the department.
• Monitor & control maintenance standards within the department.
• Plan the annual departmental equipment, spares & repairs Budget & ensure that the department works within the set Budget.
• Develop viable systems to ensure the machines are always operating from one period of planned maintenance to the next.
• Plan & coordinate implementation of plant development projects.
• Routinely check with stores & planning to ensure that the critical spares are available to promote the reliability of the assets.
• Mentor and motivate technical staff as well as determining human resource requirements and work allocation for operations whilst ensuring that they are efficiently managed.
• Development of subordinates by identifying training needs then ensuring implementation of technical training programs through recommending external trainings and conducting internal training.
• Prevent accidents/breakdowns by ensuring the correct standards, codes, engineering best practice or international norms of engineering practice are carried out.
• Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability & non-reliability related risks that could adversely impact operations.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial chemistry/ Science Technology/ Chemical Engineering/ Production Engineering
Working Experience:
• A minimum of 10 years working experience in manufacturing with at least 4 years managerial experience
