Job Purpose
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory and tax regulations, and supporting management with timely financial insights for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare and maintain accurate books of accounts and financial records.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Conduct bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.

Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
-
Manage budgeting and financial planning processes.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
-
Process supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
-
Manage accounts receivable, invoicing, and collections.
-
Follow up on outstanding debts and ensure timely collections.

Maintain proper documentation of all transactions.
Tax & Statutory Compliance
-
Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, PAYE, NSSF, Withholding Tax, Income Tax, etc.).

Ensure compliance with URA and other regulatory requirements.
-
Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities.

Maintain audit-ready records and support annual audits.
Inventory & Cost Control

Monitor inventory records and perform periodic stock reconciliations.

Track cost of goods sold and operational expenses.
-
Support procurement and cost management initiatives.
-
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
-
Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
-
Safeguard company assets and prevent financial irregularities.
-
Ensure adherence to company financial policies and accounting standards.
Administrative & Support Functions
-
Manage payroll processing and staff expense reimbursements.

Prepare financial reports for management meetings.

Support budgeting and strategic financial planning.
-
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

CPA/ACCA Level II or above (or equivalent professional certification) is an added advantage.

Minimum 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in trading, distribution, or technical services companies.

Experience working with accounting software (QuickBooks, Tally, or similar ERP systems).

Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and statutory compliance.
