Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) is hiring a Graduate Trainee – Careers and Employability Office to support the delivery of careers and employability services by assisting with programme coordination, employer and alumni engagement activities, data management, and administrative tasks. The role provides an opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in student career development and employability services within a higher education environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the organization of employer engagement activities, including preparation of materials, scheduling, student mobilization, and follow-up communications.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of career guidance programmes, employability workshops, and skills development sessions aligned with student needs and industry expectations.
- Assist in coordinating alumni engagement activities, including networking events, mentoring initiatives, and other alumni-focused programmes.
- Assist in collecting, organizing, and compiling data related to employability activities, employer engagements, and alumni engagements for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Maintain and update tracking systems for internships, graduate placements, and employability programmes to support effective service delivery.
- Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Careers and Employability Office, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and supporting day-to-day operations to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Deliver a positive and supportive student experience by serving as a welcoming first point of contact for walk-in students, providing timely and responsive career guidance, and referring complex needs to the Careers and Employability Officer as appropriate.
Learning Outcomes
- By the end of the training period, the Graduate Trainee is expected to have developed practical knowledge, skills, and professional competencies for future professional roles in student services, human resources, career development, or related fields.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management, Education, Business Administration, Psychology or related fields
- Not more that two years since the date of graduation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with students, staff and employers
- Good organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Professionalism, integrity and positive attitude towards learning
