Position Purpose
The Medical Officer will apply medical knowledge and clinical skills to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and timely patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to patients in line with established clinical guidelines and hospital policies.
- Take responsibility for day-to-day clinical decision-making within the assigned unit.
- Review, manage, and monitor patient cases daily, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
- Support and guide nursing staff by providing timely, accurate, and consistent medical direction.
- Refer patients appropriately to in-house specialists, consultants, or the Head of Medical Services when cases fall outside scope of expertise.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, quality, and patient safety standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, continuous medical education (CME), and quality improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, insurers, and other stakeholders regarding clinical management.
- Perform any other duties as assigned in line with hospital objectives.

- Ability to assess risk rapidly and initiate appropriate treatment or referrals.
- High ethical standards and professionalism.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Valid practicing license.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise junior medical staff and nursing teams.
- Prior hospital-based clinical experience is an added advantage.
