The Regional Hub for Africa is hosted in Kampala, Uganda. and works with churches, faith based and other partners to implement development. humanitarian and advocacy programs to defend people’s dignity and rights, alleviate poverty and save lives.

Working alongside our partners and the rightsholders to further development, humanitarian and advocacy work. the Regional Hub now seeks to recruit a suitable qualified person to fill the following position, based in Kampala.

Humanitarian Program Officer

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Director Act Church of Sweden Regional Hub, the Humanitarian Program Officer is part of our Africa-Program Team and our Global Humanitarian Rapid response team. The role includes responsibilities for strategic planning and delivery of quality program results. in accordance with program objectives. Assessment Of humanitarian alerts, appeals and proposals; Management of contract compliance with partners. She/he will contribute to the writing of applications for funding and the development of partnerships with institutional donors.

Duties will include:

a) Assess alerts, appeals and proposals for humanitarian response

b) Manage and coordinate the implementation, follow-up and reporting programs together with other members of the team

c) Initiate, develop and manage collaboration with partner organisations

d) Ensure compliance with agreements, back donor requirements and internal regulations.

e) contribute to financing of programs, in collaboration with other sections.

f) Manage partner and project assessments in collaboration with other sections.

g) Represent the Act Church of Sweden/Church Sweden internally and externally.

h) Administer partner and project collaboration in accordance with the set routines and systems.

i) Adhere to the Code of Conduct, laws, agreements and internal policies and work to ensure that other employees adhere to these.

j) Other duties as directed by the immediate manager.

 

Minimum requirements

a) A university degree in a field relevant to the position.

b) A minimum of five years or experience working in the humanitarian sector, with demonstrated experience with, and knowledge of, humanitarian principles and standards, including the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).

c) Experience from a non-profit civil society organization is a requirement

d) Experience of cooperation with religious, faith-based actors and ecumenical networks is an advantage.

e) experience or working within an ecumenical context with knowledge of and experience from working with a member of the ACT Alliance is an added advantage

Experience of working with back donor funding including proposal writing and grants management. in humanitarian aid is an advantage.

a) The positions is a national Uganda contract. open to candidates with eligibility to live and work in Uganda either as a citizen or a resident with a valid work permit.
