Background
The Nile Basin Initiative [NBI] is an intergovernmental partnership of the riparian States of the Nile including Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It was established in 1999 as a Transitional Mechanism by the Council of Ministers on Water Affairs to foster cooperation and sustainable development of the Nile River for the benefit of the 10 countries. The NBI shared vision is to achieve “ sustainable socio-economic development through the equitable utilization of, and benefit from, the common Nile Basin water resources ”. NBI has three Centers: NBI SEC based in Entebbe, Uganda, NELSAP-CU based in Kigali, Rwanda and ENTRO based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
NBI Secretariat intends to hire a highly qualified and competent professional for the following position that will fall vacant by end of financial year 2025/2026.

Duty Station.
The Employee will be based at NBI Secretariat in Entebbe Uganda with possible travel within or out of the Basin Countries as may be deemed necessary by the Employer.
Period of Service
This is a Regional Position with an employment duration (term) of Six (6) years whose annual contracts are renewable based on satisfactory performance, availability of funds and need for the services.
