Job Summary
To provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and prevention of diseases, while ensuring a positive patient experience in line with hospital standards, protocols, and ethical practices.
Job Details
1. Clinical Care.
- Examine, diagnose, and treat patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in line with clinical guidelines.
- Conduct medical procedures within scope of practice.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
2. Patient Management.
- Admit, review, and discharge patients appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Provide clear medical reports and documentation.
3. Emergency Response.
- Provide urgent and emergency care when required.
- Stabilize critically ill patients and coordinate referrals if necessary.
4. Collaboration.
- Work closely with nurses, specialists, pharmacists, and laboratory teams.
- Participate in ward rounds, case reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.
5. Patient Education.
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care.
- Promote health awareness and disease prevention.
6. Compliance & Quality Assurance.
- Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and ethical standards.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
- Participate in audits, CMEs, and continuous professional development.
7. Patient Experience & Engagement.
- Deliver compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care at all times.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and their families.
- Ensure patients are well-informed about their diagnosis, treatment options, and progress.
- Actively listen and respond to patient concerns, feedback, and complaints.
- Promote a culture of service excellence and uphold the hospital’s patient experience standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent
- Valid practicing license from the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
- Minimum of 1 year’s clinical post internship experience (preferred).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
