Job Summary

To provide safe, high-quality, and patient-centered maternal and newborn care, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal services, while ensuring a positive patient experience in line with hospital standards, protocols, and ethical practices.

Job Details

1. Maternal & Newborn Care

  • Provide comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care
  • Monitor the condition of pregnant women and unborn babies using appropriate clinical tools
  • Conduct normal deliveries and assist in complicated deliveries as required
  • Provide immediate care to newborns, including resuscitation when necessary
  • Identify high-risk pregnancies and escalate appropriately.

2. Clinical Care & Procedures

  • Perform routine examinations and assessments for mothers and newborns.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards at all times.
  • Ensure proper use and care of maternity equipment.

3. Patient Management

  • Admit, monitor, and discharge mothers and newborns appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records.
  • Prepare and submit required clinical reports.

4. Patient Experience & Engagement

  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and dignified care to all patients.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with mothers and their families.
  • Ensure mothers are informed and involved in decisions about their care.
  • Provide emotional support during labor and postpartum period.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to patient concerns and feedback.

5. Health Education & Promotion

  • Educate mothers and families on pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Promote safe motherhood practices and family planning.
  • Support and encourage exclusive breastfeeding.

6. Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work closely with doctors, nurses, pediatricians, and other healthcare staff.
  • Participate in ward rounds, case reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.

7. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Adhere to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and quality of care.
  • Participate in audits, Continuous Medical Education (CMEs), and professional development.

 

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BScM preferred).
  • Registered and licensed with Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Valid Practicing License.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience (Hospital setting preferred).
