Job description

Result Areas:

Data collection and Management

  • Develop and Implement data collection protocol and tools in alignment with the project’s objectives.
  • Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of data related to GBV interventions, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Assist research team in designing electronic data collection format using electronic applications/ e.g. Kobo Toolbox, CommCare, REDCap/ and transferring electronic data into statistical analysis software/ e.g. STATA, SPSS/
  • Support geodata collection, analysis and creating maps for assessment areas and project intervention sites.
  • Analyze large data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to the Project’s goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement data management protocols, including data entry, cleaning, and validation procedures.
  • Collaborate with the project team to design and implement data collection tools and methodologies tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and visualizations that effectively communicate key findings and recommendations to project stakeholders and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards in accordance with project guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide training and support to project staff on data collection techniques, database management, and data analysis tools.
  • Ensure the consistent and accurate collection, entry, and storage of GBV-related data.
  • Maintain a secure and organized database for project data.
  • Regularly update and clean the dataset to ensure data integrity.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct statistical and qualitative analysis of GBV data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on project data to project stakeholders and donors.
  • Contribute to evidence-based decision-making by translating data into actionable insights.

Capacity Building:

  • Provide training and support to project staff and partners in data collection and management best practices.
  • Ensure that all team members are well-versed in the project’s data requirements.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and address data discrepancies and anomalies.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with project teams, government agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate data-related activities.
  • Collaborate with experts and organizations in the field of GBV to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Public health or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 6 years of proven experience working in data management; data collection, analysis and reporting in the context of social development projects preferably in GBV assessment and related areas.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as, STATA, R, Python, or SPSS, and familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of gender issues, human rights, and international development frameworks is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data accuracy, confidentiality and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working on GBV-related projects.
  • Knowledge of local and international GBV reporting standards and protocols
  • Fluency in Amharic, English and/or Afan Oromo, Afar;
