The role of the audit trainee entails assisting the audit team in the comprehensive execution of audits. The primary focus of this position is to offer robust support to the audit team throughout the audit process. By engaging in daily hands-on tasks and client interactions, the Audit Trainee actively contributes to the enhancement of their professional skills. Working under the guidance of an Audit Senior, the successful candidate is expected to actively participate in and oversee audits from initiation to completion.
Detailed Job Responsibilities
• Actively participates in audit engagements, contributing to risk assessments, fieldwork, and comprehensive documentation.
• Preparation and analysis of diverse financial records with a focus on ensuring precision and accuracy.
• Executes controls testing and substantive tests with meticulous care to maintain audit integrity.
• Examines, inspects, and reconciles various accounts in alignment with audit programs.
• Generates bank letters, lawyers’ letters, etc., for clients following precise instructions from the audit team.
• Analyzes clients’ statutory records, including VAT, PAYE, PACRA returns, etc., ensuring compliance with legal obligations and regulatory requirements. Provides vital support to the audit team, undertaking clerical tasks such as report printing.
• Initiates follow-ups on outstanding documents and matters with clients, ensuring timely resolution.
• Maintains open and effective communication with clients and engagement teams throughout the audit process.

Qualifications and Experience
• Entry level
• Must be a registered ZICA member (Technician, Licentiate or Graduate) or a student under ZICA training scheme
• Must have the relevant accounting qualification such as CA Application or Professional Level, ACCA, CIMA or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
