Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of MERL frameworks, indicators, protocols and tools for all projects for efficient and effective tracking of programme progress and results.
- Manage MERL database that captures all data and indicators for programme and projects.
- Coordinate projects related surveys and studies.
- Lead programme team on development and review of annual work plans and targets
- Coordinate the programme teams and finance to ensure effective and quality implementation of all programme activities.
- Ensure quarterly assessment of programme by conducting field monitoring, data audits and supervision.
- Routinely perform quality assurance checks of M&E work, undertaking and overseeing that planned M&E activities are conducted timely and on budget.
- Lead quarterly programme review workshops with programme staff and senior leadership.
- Lead the reviews and reflections processes across the programme in coordination with Programme Director.
- Analyze data collected to inform programming and decision making and promote sharing of lessons learned from programme M&E to improve future programme selection, design and implementation as well as enhance programme innovation and scale.
- Coordinate production of high-quality M&E reports for donors and ensure reporting deadlines are met and communication of relevant notifications to program leads for timely reporting.
- Proactively track documents due and completed and provide targeted support to staff in cases where deadlines are not going to be met.
- Ensure data and analysis are accurate and prepared for quarterly communications products and all organizational reports.
- Support Programme team and AKF in continuously assessing the impact of the programme on children, families, schools and communities.
- Manage day to day information requests from country, regional, and international MERL units and other departments.
- Conduct participatory needs assessments on MERL for programme staff and coordinate and or conduct capacity development workshops for all programme staff.
The requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Education, Social Sciences, International Development, or IT from a recognized University.
- Minimum of 3 years practical experience in implementing M&E systems in the Education context (Early Childhood Development will be an added advantage) and or development context.
- Experience in planning and implementation of M&E systems
- Experience with database management, data collection approaches information analysis, and reporting
- Experience with results-based management and associated tools,
- Experience with building capacity and/or mentoring others to strengthen their M&E skills.
- Experience in virtual engagements including online data collection methods including the use of the Kobo Collect application, and tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (and Kiswahili is an added advantage)
- Excellent computer skills including expertise with Excel; ACCESS, EPI – INFO
- Highly organized, self-driven, and able to meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate openness to change and able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks
