Minimum required qualification & experience:
- Final year LLB or post graduate law degree students are eligible to apply
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of international humanitarian law and of humanitarian affairs;
- Good knowledge of Public International Law, including domestication and knowledge of Human Rights Law an additional asset
- Knowledge of the ICRC and its activities
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Knowledge of French or Portuguese an asset
Function description:
- Thematic research and analysis related to international humanitarian law
- Research related to multilateral organisations in the region
- Identify and establish a network with the South African Medical fraternity
- Project and program reporting
- Planning and organising of department and delegation events
- Participation in seminars, courses, and national or regional conferences on topics related to IHL
- Provide support to the Regional Legal Advisor
- Insuring the proper use of ICRC library and documentation
