Purpose for the job:

Under the supervision of the Senior Advisor, he will be in charge of strengthening the capacity of staff in designated health facilities on the management of HIV in PMTCT and among children and adolescents living with HIV, according to national guidelines. Supervise the implementation of activities in the field of HIV care management in PMTCT and among HIV+ children and adolescents. Analyze progress towards achieving objectives and support the development of interventions to address gaps identified in the program, work collaboratively with other regional “mentor sites” on programs, including monitoring and management staff site evaluation. Work closely with the regional public health delegation for program implementation and technical assistance to national counterparts. Ensure that the FOSAs supported by ICAP achieve the 95-95-95 annual objectives. Work in close collaboration with regional authorities (GTR, the Delegation) of health districts and other stakeholders

Major responsibilities:

Supervise health providers involved in the management of HIV in PMTCT and HIV+ children/adolescents in health facilities supported by ICAP in the region

Provide technical support related to PMTCT and pediatric HIV care

Implement activities related to PMTCT and pediatric and adolescent care at the regional level

Monitor the achievement of objectives 95 -95 -95 in relation to pediatric and adolescent care

Monitor progress on PMTCT and pediatric care in health facilities supported by ICAP at the regional level.

Ensure support and monitoring of staff in the field in relation to the management of HIV in PMTCT and among HIV+ children/adolescents in health facilities supported by ICAP in the region

 Promote, coordinate and monitor the functioning of support groups for pregnant/breastfeeding women and HIV+ children/adolescents

Ensure the availability of all standard pediatric HIV care and PMTCT guides within health facilities

Participate in data quality assurance/quality improvement activities to develop interventions to address gaps identified in the program.

Oversee the documentation, collection and validation of data related to HIV care in PMTCT and HIV+ children/adolescents across the HIV care cascade

Prepare the monthly activity report and submit it to your supervisor

Actively participate in the weekly and monthly meeting on progress towards objectives and review of site data

Ensure the availability of PMTCT and Pediatric inputs and consumables on the site

Liaise with the central office and receive technical assistance, advice and input from ICAP experts from the regional headquarters and New York teams

Provide overall technical support to health facilities under his supervision

Be reassured of the achievement of the 95-95-95 objective in the health facilities under his supervision

Education :

Doctor of Medicine degree

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a Master’s degree in Public Health

Experience, skills and qualifications required

Experience in comprehensive HIV/TB care (Minimum 4 years) in a similar supervisory position

Have experience in caring for children and adolescents infected with HIV

Have experience in consulting and monitoring pregnant women, children and adolescents in general

Have training in PMTCT, pediatric and adolescent care living with HIV

Have training in comprehensive HIV care

Be pro-reactive, analyze and find solutions in order to improve your performance

Have a great sense of discipline and respect for time and its hierarchy

Have knowledge about adolescent sexual and reproductive health

Have leadership skills

Have experience as a trainer and/or supervisor  

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Computer skills (Word 2016, Excel, power point)
