Position Overview:
We are seeking an exceptionally seasoned and entrepreneurial leader for the position of Chairman to oversee a portfolio of 21+ companies with significant joint ventures in Africa. This strategic role requires a visionary executive with a proven track record in leading large-scale organizations, demonstrating unparalleled entrepreneurial acumen, and a deep understanding of complex business landscapes in the Ethiopian context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Vision: Provide visionary leadership to a diverse portfolio of companies, setting strategic direction, and ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Infuse a spirit of entrepreneurship across the organization, fostering innovation, and seizing opportunities for growth in the dynamic African market.
- Corporate Governance: Ensure adherence to the highest standards of corporate governance, ethical practices, and compliance across all companies under the portfolio.
- Joint Venture Management: Spearhead and optimize joint ventures, cultivating strong relationships with partners to drive collaborative success and sustainable growth.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the operational efficiency of each company, implementing best practices, and driving performance excellence.
- Financial Stewardship: Collaborate with CFOs to ensure sound financial management, sustainable profitability, and effective resource allocation within each entity.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with diverse business operations, ensuring a resilient and adaptive approach to challenges.
- Mergers and Acquisitions: Strategically evaluate and pursue potential mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships that align with the broader corporate strategy.
Job Requirements
- Executive Leadership Experience: A minimum of 15 years in executive leadership positions, with a proven track record of leading multiple companies or divisions.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Demonstrated ability to drive entrepreneurship and innovation within organizations, with a keen eye for identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities.
- Joint Venture Expertise: Substantial experience in managing complex joint ventures, ideally in the African business landscape.
- Global Perspective: A global mindset with a deep understanding of international business practices and a proven ability to navigate diverse cultural and regulatory environments.
- Previous Vice Chairman or Equivalent Role: Past experience in a Vice Chairman or higher level of managerial and leadership positions, preferably within multinational corporations.
- Strategic Visionary: Proven capability to develop and execute a forward-thinking, long-term business strategy aligned with industry trends and market dynamics.
- Financial Acumen: Strong financial acumen with a track record of successfully managing budgets, driving financial performance, and enhancing shareholder value.
- Communication and Influence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is required. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly desirable.
Year of experience: A minimum of 15+ year of executive leadership position, with a proven track record of leading multiple companies or divisions .
