The candidate will develop and cost effectively conduct all technical courses within his / her discipline as required to meet the needs of Kenya airways and customer operators.
Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities (Responsibility)
- Prepare and update training manuals/teaching notes to ensure that up-to-date information is delivered to maintenance staff.
- Conduct basic aircraft systems training to Maintenance personnel to enable them to acquire KCAA/EASA basic licences without type rating.
- Prepare, administer and mark basic trial (LWTR) examinations for maintenance personnel to assess the training and knowledge impacted.
- Conduct and Coordinate OJT programmes for maintenance staff
- Prepare, review, administer and mark the relevant basic and aircraft type examinations for the aircraft maintenance personnel to assess the training and knowledge acquired.
- Prepare progress and assessment reports on course participants for follow-up and recommendations to the manager, technical training.
- Prepare and conduct Mandatory and Regulatory initial, refresher and continuation courses for maintenance personnel to enable them to obtain and sustain maintenance licenses / approvals from KCAA/EASA and Kenya airways.
- Conduct ‘A’ Rating courses for engineers and Technicians with LWTR so that they are authorized to handle transit checks.
- Coach and Mentor Technical Instructors, apprentices and graduate trainees
- Conduct Aircraft Type practical trainings and OJT for Engineers and Technicians after the theoretical trainings
- Prepare and conduct specialized and modular courses as need arises to meet Kenya Airway’s business requirements.
- Coordinate the apprenticeship and graduate trainee programs to ensure successful completion.
- Evaluate all training feedback for corrective actions.
- Supervise other instructors to ensure training activities are executed as per the training plan.
- Prepare and conduct simulator training as need arises to meet Kenya Airways operational needs.
- Conduct Aircraft type and refresher courses for aircraft licensed maintenance engineers and Technicians to enable them to obtain and sustain maintenance approvals from KCAA/EASA and Kenya airways.
- Carry out Training Needs Assessment as required.
- Prepare progress and assessment reports on course participants for follow-up and recommendations to the manager, technical training.
Job Requirements
Qualification (Minimum)
- Aeronautical/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic degree or HND from a recognized institution.
- At least one basic KCAA or equivalent maintenance license.
- Instructional Techniques and instructional Design.
- Successful completion of at least 2 approved aircraft type courses.
- Demonstrated aviation maintenance experience of at least 5 years.
- 5 years teaching experience with at least 3 years on type aircraft.
- Demonstrated experience in managing training records and conducting simulator training.
- Demonstrated experience in basic course content delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting theoretical and practical training on type.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and revising training curriculum.
