Provide administrative and logistical support to the UK Defence Attaché (who is based in Addis Ababa). Provide advice and weekly reporting on military and security sector issues to the Defence Attaché and broader British Embassy Juba colleagues.
Day-to-day liaison with South Sudanese Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs and other relevant South Sudanese Government Departments. Support British Embassy Protocol team with aircraft diplomatic clearance. Act as link point for any British Military personnel in South Sudan with the British Embassy.
Roles and responsibilities:
The Defence Attaché for South Sudan is based in Addis Ababa but makes monthly visits to Juba. This role’s primary purposes are to provide support to the Defence Attaché and to contribute to the day-to-day reporting of the Embassy by providing insights into military and security sector issues.
The main responsibilities:
- Support the Defense Attaché by providing administrative, logistical and other support as required, including support for his/her regular visits to Juba
- Assist the Defense Attaché in preparation of monthly and weekly reports/updates by providing regular, timely and accurate information about military/security developments in South Sudan
- Contribute to Embassy analysis and reporting on military/security issues in South Sudan
- Lead on day-to-day, working level liaison with the South Sudanese Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs, SSPDF and other security sector actors
- Maintain a broad network of contacts in the Ministry of Defiance and Veterans Affairs, SSPDF and other security sector actors in support of Embassy objectives
- Support UK Peacekeepers serving with UNMISS in any administrative tasks
- Processing clearances for UK military aircraft overflying South Sudan and providing advice and guidance on overflights
- Manage UK MOD inventory in Juba including vehicles and other equipment
- Maintain up to date records of UK defense related activity in South Sudan as requiredEssential qualifications, skills and experience
