The Opportunity
The Local Emergency Response Manager (L-ERM) for the Far North region will assist the National Emergency Response Manager (N-ERM) to lead and manage the Emergency Response Team (ERT) in the region and associated emergency programs. The position holder will be the interface between the Emergency Response Team and N-ERM based in the Country Office. The L-ERM will support the N-ERM to ensure quality and effectiveness of Plan’s emergency response in Maroua PIIA. The L-ERM is the leader of the Maroua PIIA Team, responsible, and accountable for developing, coordinating and managing all emergency activities. The L-ERM has overall responsibility for the security and wellbeing of staff in the region.
The Individual/About You
Qualifications/Experience & Skills:
The Local ERM should hold a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Management, Socials Sciences or other related fields, with five (5) years of working experience in complex humanitarian contexts. As the L-ERM, you should demonstrate knowledge of child protection and disaster risk reduction – including significant field experience in managing emergency programs during humanitarian crises.
As L-ERM, you should have knowledge of Plan International’s policies and procedures, SPHERE and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct is desirable. Also, Experience in key practice and standards for humanitarian response such as CHS, INEE are highly important.
Required knowledge of general finance, administration, human resources management, information management, and telecommunication skills and proficiency in information technology/computer skills will also be key in your success as L-ERM.
Languages Required:
Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken) are essential.
