Junior Mine Surveyor is responsible for the safe and efficient provision of accurate and timely surveying field work and office duties as assigned to him by his superiors on the Kalumbila Mining and Exploration leases. Also to carry out all monthly measurements in a safe and timely fashion.

Specific Job Responsibility

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient provision of accurate and timely surveying field work and office duties as assigned.
  • carry out all monthly measurements in a safe and timely fashion
  • Establishment and monitoring of Primary and secondary control within the Mining Lease, this includes levelling of this control with an automatic level
  • Responsible for charging and cleaning of all survey equipment inclusive of field vehicles.
  • Responsible for cleaning of survey store room
  • Responsible for daily ore-face updates and process and circulate the data to the entire Technical team that uses this information
  • Set out of all Mine Design and Geological requirements, this includes preparation of set out plans for all designated personnel to utilise.
  • Carry out Stockpile surveys on a regular basis and evaluate volumes
  • Carry out all Drill and Blast survey requests and work closely with the drilling and planning personnel.
  • Sets up semi and permanent GCPs before flying for the purpose of geo-referencing all drone captured data.
  • Daily interaction with Chief Mine Surveyor, Survey Coordinator, Mine Surveyor on and as required basis.
  • Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the supervisor.

Job Specific Competences

  • Minimum knowledge in large multi open pit operations utilising GPS equipment, scanners, Drones, Total stations, data recorders and associated Surveying softwares like Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, or GIS
  • Ability to interpret and implement mine plans and effectively achieves targets and goals
  • Demonstrate good communication skills with the other Mining sections (Operations, Technical, Mine Geology and Mining Maintenance) personnel

Experience and Qualification

  • A Degree or Diploma in Mine, Geodetic, Geomatic, Land or Engineering Surveying from a recognized Institution.
  • New entrants with qualifications in Geodetic, Geomatic, Land or Engineering Surveying can be considered;
  • Post qualification experience is an added advantage.
  • Must have a valid Zambian Drivers license.
