Key Responsibilities
Network Administration
• Network Setup and Maintenance:
– Plan, design, install, and maintain the organisation’s network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
• Troubleshooting:
– Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, slow performance, and network-related hardware or software problems.
• Security:
– Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Network Monitoring:
– Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues to ensure optimal network functionality.
System Administration
• Server Management:
– Administer and maintain servers, ensuring proper configuration, security, and performance.
• Operating System Updates:
– Apply updates and patches to servers and workstations to maintain system integrity and security.
• Backup and Recovery: – Implement and manage data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical information.
• User Account Management:
– Create, modify, and delete user accounts and manage access permissions.
Technical Support
• End-User Support:
– Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues, troubleshooting problems, and offering guidance.
• Help Desk Management:
– Manage help desk tickets, prioritise support requests, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
IT Infrastructure
• Hardware and Software Procurement:
– Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to procure hardware and software, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Inventory Management:
– Maintain an inventory of hardware, software licences, and other IT assets.
Security and Compliance
• Security Audits:
– Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary security measures.
• Compliance:
– Ensure IT systems comply with relevant regulations and standards, implementing necessary controls and documentation.
Documentation
• Network and System Documentation:
– Create and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, systems, and procedures.
• User Guides:
– Develop user guides and documentation for end-users on common IT processes and procedures.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an IT Administrator, Network Administrator, or a similar role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
