Ampersand is seeking a values-driven junior production engineer with the aim to efficiently utilize resources and drive results. The role of the Junior Production Engineer will work closely with the Vehicle Assembly & Fabrication Manager, identifying tooling needs and improvements, building solutions for scale and reliability while maximizing the value proposition to the production line, as well as supporting the documentation of quality issues and finding local solutions. In this role, you will hold the following.

responsibilities:

Support assembly line to identify bottlenecks and look for efficiency improvements, and translating them to technical requirements

Optimizing tooling designs and assembly/fabrication processes for low-cost and durability

Create and follow up on equipment maintenance plans

Applying the product design process of rapid prototyping, testing, and refining for production tools

Applying a solid understanding of mechanical systems, preferably experience with vehicles and/or batteries and power systems

Building CAD models and technical drawings

Performing engineering and production validation tests

Support documentation of quality issues and finding quick solutions while recommending long-term solutions to R&D team

Ongoing follow-up of product performance after launch

Collaborate with Senior Production Manager, Vehicle & Fabrication Manager, Battery Assembly & Maintenance Manager, and R&D and Supply Chain teams

Cross-team collaboration with Product Design teams and Operation teams

Minimum requirements

Across all our roles, we look for professionals with strong work ethic, and the ability to manage shifting priorities and unforeseen challenges. For this role specifically, you will need to have:

Minimum 3 years of prior industry experience in a relevant role

Degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or equivalent

Fabrication or production line experience

Experience with design for manufacturing/ production tooling

Strong hands-on experience in fabrication, preferably with welding and machining

CAD fluency, especially with technical drawings

Experience with manufacturing of electronic equipment preferred

Experience with vehicles, batteries preferred

Experience with CNC machine operation a bonus
