What you will do: 

In this position, you will:

  • Line management for all both WASH and Shelter project staff in the Far North regions and local staff if required.
  • Manage daily tasks related to human resources, administration, finance, logistics and security of the local office.
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and WASH – Shelter strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant WASH – Shelter projects.
  • Coordinate, manage and ensure high quality WASH – Shelter projects implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the Core Competency Specialist (CCS).
  • Ensure that projects target participants most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with CCs) and coordinate across CCs.
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Technical WASH and Shelter expertise
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon
  • Experience in team capacity building
  • Technical knowledge and experience of the behaviour change process in a humanitarian context
  • Technical knowledge and experience of the community engagement process in a humanitarian context.
  • Experience with construction and management of borehole programme
  • Experience with construction and rehabilitation of shelter programme
  • Experience with alternative WASH and innovative shelter approaches in a humanitarian context is an asset
  • Understanding of SPHERE and INEE Minimum Standards is required
  • Candidates with an advanced degree preferred; significant experience in the field of WASH, and/or Shelter is required
