Sometime in the autumn of 1974, a small group of Unilever (Then East Africa Industries Ltd {EAI}) factory workers whirled away their mid-morning break over a cup of tea. They mulled over their life challenges mostly revolving around personal financial needs

Who we are:

We are a tier one Sacco in Kenya seeking to recruit a result and goal-oriented Finance Manager to join our team.

Job Purpose:

Reporting directly to the C.E.O the job holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient financial management system: -financial reporting, cost control, budgeting, regulatory and statutory compliance, cash flow management, safeguarding the assets with an aim of attaining profitability. He / she will provide strategic leadership in the management of the organization’s finances, by safeguarding the financial resources, financial policies and financial procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in overall financial management in the preparation of the Sacco’s financial statements, budget formulation, and Sacco investment strategy.
  • Formulation of sound financial management, accounting and investment strategies, policies, procedures and systems that ensure effective control and accountability for the Sacco’s resources.
  • Preparation of timely, consistent, and accurate financial statements in accordance with the Sacco’s policies and procedures and statutory reporting.
  • Interpretation of financial information to the Board and Management for decision making.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of investment portfolios to ensure investment performance is tracked and appropriate measures are taken to ensure adequate returns on invested funds.
  • Forecasting of cash flow requirements to ensure excess funds are invested in approved investments and are available as and when required for disbursement.
  • To ensure that the Sacco is Liquid and that there is enough money to meet long and short-term maturing obligations.
  • Advising the CEO and the Board on dividend rate and the best way to appropriate profits made during the year.
  • Manage the Sacco’s budgets against actual performance and advise the board and senior management on modalities to maintain growth and the long-term financial goals of the Sacco.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or relevant field
  • A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Relevant professional certification such as CPA K ACCA
  • Membership in a professional body such as ICPAK
  • A minimum of 8 years’ work experience in a similar set up
  • At least three years working experience in a management level in a financial institution.
