Main duties and responsibilities:
- Liaise with relevant persons for instructions and ensure travel requirements are met as per the transport policy;
- Drive to various authorised destinations for transportation of project staff to implement field activities in project target areas;
- Ensures that the vehicle is kept overnight in a secure location;
- Submit travel expense reports after every field trip and report on all vehicle costs incurred;
- Inspect assigned vehicles before and after trips for tools, equipment, spare parts, insurance licence;
- Liaises with the Administrative Associate to ensure that routine service and maintenance is undertaken timely;
- Ensure that project vehicles are kept clean and road worthy;
- Report accidents or incidents to the Project Manager/ supervisor immediately;
- Adheres to the ILRI/CIP Vehicle and Fuel Management Policy and comply with rules and guidelines;
- Prepare monthly summary of project vehicles’ logbooks and share with the Administrative Associate;
- Ensure compliance with ILRI/CIP driving policy in case of involvement in an accident;
- Complies with applicable health and safety of ILRI/CIP policies and procedures;
- Performs other duties as required.
Academic and professional qualifications:
Education:
- High school certificate
- Knowledge in specific field and use of simple tools and equipment
Experience:
- One year relevant experience, preferably in an international organization
Additional Skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot simple automotive problems
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Field trip experience in different parts of Ethiopia and knowledge of roads
- Excellent communication skills, including inter-personal relationship
- Basic knowledge of car mechanics and ability to attend to minor repairs and maintenance of the vehicle in case of breakdown will be an advantage.
- Willingness to spend considerable time working under field conditions in rural areas
- Fluent in official language according to country location.
