Job description

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to data collection and analysis; conduct research on relevant assigned topics on
Migration and Health.

Support the mission by facilitating and monitoring resource mobilization and project
development activities within migration and health, participating in proposal development,
reports, and external visibility material.
3. Support the monitoring of timely and quality implementation of migration and health project
activities in accordance with the project work plans, agreed indicators and in line with IOM
standards, including Emergency Health, and any other (from hereon in only referred to as
“Migration and Health”).
4. Regularly support the monitoring of project implementation and budgets for migration and
health projects, ensuring that expenditure is in line with timeframes and allocated funds.
5. Facilitate the development of migration and health public information tools, including but not
limited to success stories, newsletters, and press releases.
6. Collaborate internally with other units in response to calls for proposals, or information from
HQs, RO, donors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
7. Facilitate the identification and engagement of technical experts for capacity building required
under migration and health project activities.
8. Support the Mission in liaising with relevant stakeholders, including national and local
government counterparts, UN agencies and others national and international organizations on
matters related to migration and health.
9. Monitoring Migration and Health-related issues and developments in the region and
contributing to the development of thematic reports and policies.
10. Help manage Technical Working Group meetings and activities where Health and Migration
are concerned.
11. Facilitate the mainstreaming of migration in government and development partner policies,
documents, and programming.
12. Support the Mission on the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) agenda,
including the implementation of the strategy and mainstreaming PSEA through the awareness
and training sessions for staff and service-providers.
13. Supervise project staff and provide opportunities for career development.
14. Undertake duty travels as required.
15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Public Health, or a related health field from an accredited academic
institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in migration and health within a government or UN agency, or a regional or
international organization in West and Central Africa;
• Operational and field experience in outbreak preparedness and response;

• Experience on field epidemiology and risk communication interventions;
• Operational and field experience in programme development and implementation in migration,
refugee, and displaced persons’ health-related issues;
• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions,
and non-governmental organizations (NGOs);
• Proven experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning; and,
• Experience in implementing projects.
Skills
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation;
• Knowledge of IOM/UN procedures;
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of relational databases, Microsoft applications,
spreadsheets, word processing etc.;
• Strong writing skills; and,
• Familiarity with the health sector in the African region, with Cameroon experience an
advantage.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be
fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English and French is required (oral and written). Working
knowledge of any local languages spoken is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process,
which may include written and/or oral assessments.
