St. Andrew’s International Primary School is looking to appoint an energetic, vibrant finance & administration professional to support the school on its transformation journey from September 2024. This outstanding professional should be ready to take on new challenges & bring in fresh, new ideas to the ambitious growth strategy that the school has embarked on. A 3-month hand-over period is required prior to commencing the role.
Purpose:
To provide strategic leadership, direction & guidance on prudent use/management of financial & human capital resources to enable the school to achieve its goals in the most efficient & effective manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration
- Full professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA)
- Registered member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Malawi (ICAM) or equivalent, depending on country of origin
- At least 6-7 years relevant post-qualification experience, with 5+ years at senior management level

- Proficient in financial management, MS Office & accounting packages
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, organisational & leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines & work as part of a team
- Excellent negotiation & communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing strategic financial leadership to the Board & school management to ensure achievement of strategic objectives.
- Supervising all aspects of the school’s financial management, accounting functions & daily operations.
- Preparing final accounts, reports & presenting timely to the Board in liaison with the Principal.
- Implementing accounting, financial controls & reporting systems, compliant with policies, regulations & standards (e.g. IFRS).
- Leading budget consolidation, forecasting & monitoring of expenditure patterns.
- Undertaking company secretarial services (as/when required) to ensure good corporate governance, effective administration & compliance with legislation, laws & regulations that govern an international school.
- Advising on school policies, regulations related to finances, administration & Conditions of Service.
- Establishing, reviewing & ensuring sound management systems & adherence to rules/policies.
- Ensuring adequate financial controls, human resource policies & their effective implementation.
- Familiarity with asset management, ensuring the optimal use, maintenance & replacement of school-wide assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Engaging internal/external auditors & facilitating the audit processes.
- In partnership with the Principal, oversee recruitment, induction & performance appraisal of administration personnel.
- Providing operational reports for management information & decision making.
- Identifying capacity gaps, facilitating relevant training & development programs.
- Maintain good working relationships with Board members, employees, parents, financial institutions & any other companies the school has links with.
