Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate community engagement with key stakeholders in the community
- Guide the development of research participant recruitment and retention strategies and implementation
- Set goals and metrics to ensure effective implementation of community engagement and recruitment strategies
- Coordinate activities to improve community research literacy
- Coordinate community advisory group activities for research
- Represent PHRD in stakeholder forums and community initiatives
Vacancy Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health,Counseling, Social Work, Nursing, Community Development, Anthropology or other relevant degree.
- Knowledge of STI, HIV/AIDS
- Basic HIV counseling skills are desirable
- Basic IT and social media skills
- Knowledge of Good Participatory Practice (GPP) guidelines is an added advantage
