FOOD SAFETY MANAGER – ZAMHATCH – MPONGWE (01)
Required skills for the role:
- Implementing a Food Safety Management System in line with Zambeef’s Food Safety & Quality Policy, and international best practices.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining applicable international, national, and local food safety & quality regulations and standards.
- Developing, reviewing, and updating standard operating procedures related to food safety.
- Coordinate with supply chain partners to assist in product improvement and innovation.
- Ensuring products are safe and of good quality.
- Overseeing food safety processes, audits, corrective actions, and product recalls.
- Training and developing employees with regards to the operational aspects of the food safety program, pest control, environmental, operational methods and personnel practices, and maintenance for food safety and hygiene /cleaning practices.
- Maintaining food safety documentation
- To complete food supplier audits (against the HACCP systems implemented) identifying corrective actions required and escalation of major concerns and ensure action there of as required.
- Providing reports as required.
- Working closely with other safety roles – assisting as required and developing a supportive relationship
Required qualifications for the role:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Degree in Food Science, Animal Health, Biological Science or a similar field
- HACCP Certification will be an added advantage
- At least 1year hands-on food safety experience. Impressive, demonstrated track record and skills /experience gained within similar position(s) at a similar level
- Member of VAZ
Required knowledge and competencies:
- High level of business acumen, evidenced by street smartness.
- Working knowledge of food safety trends.
- Good judgment and good decision-making ability
- Committed team player with the ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization
- Developed written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in pressured and deadline-driven operating environment
- Detail-orientated with the technical aptitude and ability to perform tasks accurately and comprehensively
- Expert in multi-tasking, time management, and planning of work
