UNICEF has been working in Cameroon since 1975 to enable women and children to fully exercise their right to unrestricted development, as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides financial and technical support to Cameroon in seven areas to fully realize the rights of women and children. These areas include health, HIV/AIDS, water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, education, child protection and social inclusion. UNICEF focuses primarily on the most vulnerable and excluded children and families. The task is immense, but not insurmountable; it requires the energy of all players inside and outside Cameroon: women, men, young people and children, the government, technical and financial partners, donors, civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and communities. Everyone is invited to take part in the fight to meet the challenges that lie ahead. It is together that we will act for Cameroon, a country that sums up the challenges and hopes of Africa.
How can you make a difference?
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Minimum education required: Master’s degree, ideally in communications, journalism, advocacy, partnership, Youth engagement or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with a UN agency or similar, ideally on a U-Report project with a track record of achieving results in the core objectives.
- A solid experience in restoring building, implementing participation with young people and children, a good knowledge both of climate change issues and UNICEF procedures and values.
- A capacity to mobilize and coordinate a team of experts in the fields related to the assignments and work with others, in the PAC team, with the programmes and with external institutional, private and CSO stakeholder.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience in consensus building and in motivating cross-functional teams to meet ambitious project goals and timelines;
- Able to work independently, remotely and part of a team, has sound judgment and strong organizational skills.
- Has strong attention to detail, excellent documentation capabilities and a track record of producing high quality work for multiple audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships.
- Fluency in English and French.
