Objectives of the internship

  • The objective of this position is to provide a learning environment for an aspiring Finance and Accounting professional, who will also contribute to the finance, administration and procurement functions at Terre des Hommes Netherlands.

Position in the organization

  • The Finance and Administration intern will work with the Kenya country team and will receive hierarchical leadership and support from the Finance and Administration Officer to whom he/she reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure coordination of complete and accurate supporting documentation for all financial transactions;
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports in the approved Financial Reporting templates in Excel;
  • Prepare Bank Reconciliations and maintenance of cash books;
  • Preparation of payment vouchers for both operational and project expenses;
  • Assist in review of Cash Requests and Expense Declaration Reports and ensuring all documents are complete and accurate as per TdH NL policies and procedures;
  • Assist in the procurement processes for Projects and for the Kenya Country Office;
  • Filing of all supporting documents and ensuring the filing system is up to date;
  • Assist in preparing supporting schedules and retrieval of support documents for internal and external audits;
  • Performing any other duty as may be assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Finance, Accounting or Economics or related field OR
  • Recently completed (less than a year) a bachelor’s/master’s degree program in Finance, Accounting or Economics or related fields but with ongoing CPA qualification studies
  • Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets is essential
