- Designs and maintains the Universities entire network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, telephony, closed circuit television, and access points.
- Responsible for the proper design and configurations of routers, switches, VLANs, router protocols and ports
- Responsible for the proper setup and configurations of security policies and bandwidth shaping of University perimeter firewall
- Responsible for monitoring network availability and throughput using tools such as PRTG Network Monitor
- Ensure appropriate router access rights and necessary ports are setup to allow required traffic to enter and leave the network
- Responsible for the design, planning and running of network data cables, patch panel management,
- Ensure the proper functioning of the PBX, call manager and tracking of calls
- Measures and optimizes network performance and ensures core network security while troubleshooting any network-related issues.
- Work hand-in-glove with the senior systems administrator
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years in IT administration.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, TCP/IP, and network security practices.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA Networtk+) are advantageous
- Able to work independently on projects from start to finish
