To manage solid waste operations in order to facilitate the collection, transportation and disposal of waste in service zones.
Main Duties and Accountabilities (Without Limitation)
Supervise effectively the collection, transportation and disposal
of waste in order to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment.
Monitor timely the conduct of inspections of solid waste service providers, operators and infrastructure in order to ensure compliance to standards and regulations.
Manage effectively the formulation and enforcement of standards in order to ensure compliance to regulations and enhance service delivery.
Coordinate effectively the formulation and enforcement of standards in order to ensure compliance to regulations and enhance service delivery.
Control effectively the development and implementation of programmes in order to promote community participation and behavioral change towards solid waste management.
Direct timely assessment of solid waste service providers and operators in order to facilitate the issuance of licenses.
Manage effectively the development and implementation of quality control systems and measures in order to enhance delivery of solid waste management services and operations.
Manage effectively the identification and management of risks in order to implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Manage effectively the conduct of research on topical and emerging issues in order to generate information for informed decision making.
Manage effectively the preparation of reports on the management and provision of solid waste services in order to facilitate informed decision making.
Manage effectively the monitoring and evaluation of Institutional programmes in order to facilitate the development of appropriate interventions.
REQUIREMENTS
Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
5 years work experience of which 3 should be at management level.
Able to write technical and analytical reports
Able to communicate effectively in English
