To supervise and undertake the development of standards to manage solid waste in order to ensure compliance to statutory regulations and guidelines.
Main Duties and Accountabilities (Without Limitation)
Supervises and undertakes effectively the development of standards in order to ensure compliance to regulations and enhance service delivery.
Supervises and undertakes effectively the development of guidelines to manage landfills and other disposal facilities in order to safeguard human health and the environment.
Supervises and undertakes timely the development and review of operating manuals in order to ensure proper management of solid waste.
Supervise effectively implementation of solid waste control measures in order to stop and minimize the generation of solid waste.
Supervises and undertakes timely the development and review of codes of practice in order to provide guidelines in the handling and disposal of solid waste.
Supervises and undertakes effectively the development and implementation of quality control systems and measures in order to enhance delivery of solid waste management services and operations.
Supervises and undertakes effectively inspection of solid waste management providers and operators in order to ensure compliance to set standards.
Supervises and undertakes effectively the assessment of solid waste services providers and operators in order to facilitate the insurance of licenses.
Supervises and undertakes timely the enforcement of rules, operating manuals, codes of practice and standards on the provision of solid waste services in order to ensure compliance.
Supervises and undertakes timely the management of complaints against solid waste service providers and operators in order to take appropriate remedial action.
REQUIREMENTS
Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
At least 4 years work relevant work experience.
