DCB Commercial Bank PLC is a fully-fledged retail and commercial bank in Tanzania. The bank offers banking services to Individuals, Microfinance, Small to Medium sized Businesses (MSME), as well as large corporate clients. DCB Bank has a wide branch network of over 9 branches, over 700 DCB Wakala Agents, and over 280 Umoja switch ATMs serving over 3 million customers across the country.
We are looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Director, Corporate Banking. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall growth and effective management of the corporate portfolio through loans, deposits, advances, interest income and non-funded income.
Key Responsibilities
• Implementing the bank’s approved strategy to facilitate achievement of related short-term and long-term business goals in the most effective and efficient manner.
• Overseeing the process for acquiring new clients, deepening relationship with existing customer relationships and retention.
• Collaborating and coordinating development and implementation of sales initiatives with Retail, Treasury, Operations and Technology to maximize on cross-selling opportunities.
• Developing effective strategies to manage customer relationships, anticipate customer needs and provide quality and customised services.
• Maintaining continuous compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures and prevailing regulations pertaining promulgated by the respective regulators.
• Managing, controlling, monitoring and assuming responsibility for the corporate banking risk profile and portfolio quality in line with the expectations of Credit Committee /Board.
• Monitoring and reviewing the corporate banking portfolio by segment on an overall basis and by product, corporate profile, industry, and other parameters on periodic basis to evaluate the quality and performance of the portfolio.
• Leading the development of ‘early warning systems’ that highlight possible risk deterioration in the corporate credit portfolio, to allow for timely corrective action. Also, monitoring critical portfolio caps at required intervals and take prompt action in coordination with credit risk when required to uphold the quality of the portfolio.
• Initiate and carry out recovery action on non-performing credits facilities.
• Overseeing the overall action plans for addressing control weaknesses or compliance issues noted by internal/external auditors, the compliance function and/or
• Developing and implementing annual plans, budget and resource allocation to ensure achievement of set targets.
• Approve and where relevant amend departmental KPIs and use them to systematically monitor and measure achievements and quality of the corporate banking portfolio.
Qualifications and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
• 5 years of relevant experience at a managerial level.
• Excellent communication, sales and negotiation skills.
• Proven experience in building high performing collaborative teams.
• Strong financial management skills.
