Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Specialist (Harmful practices, Gender and Adolescents), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Support planning, implementation and monitoring of key ongoing interventions for the empowerment of the most marginalized adolescent girls in partnership with civil society partners, including the programme called “Promoting Adolescents Safe Spaces (PASS)”

• Support the integration of a gender-transformative approach across programming, including through implementation of the Gender Transformative Accelerator Roadmap for Ending Child Marriage in Ghana

• Coordination support to the government and civil society partners to implement the National Strategic Framework for Ending Child Marriage 2017-2026

• Contribute to generation and use of evidence to inform policies and programmes in the areas of child marriage, gender and adolescents, including impact evaluation of Promoting Adolescents Safe Spaces (PASS)

• Participate in programme meetings and monitoring field visits with UNFPA, Government and Civil Society Partners, assessing progress and documenting gaps and recommendations to strengthen programming in model interventions

• Support development of donor reports, proposals, advocacy and other communication materials

• Support any other tasks assigned by the supervisor

Required experience

3 years of experience in child protection, adolescent programming, women empowerment, social work, human rights, gender and other relevant fields.

• Proficient user of Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)

• Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System

Required education level

Bachelor degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Social Work, Development Studies, International Relations, Human Rights, Gender and other relevant studies
