Job description

Kenya Forest Service is a corporate body established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act no 34 of 2016 (henceforth referred to as the Act). The Act which was operationalized on 31st March 2017, gave the Service’s mandate as “to provide for the development and sustainable management, including conservation and rational utilization of all forest resources for the socioeconomic development of the country and for connected purposes”.

Entry Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in tourism, ecotourism, environmental studies or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in computer applications and social media
  • Fulfilled requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Skills/ Attributes

  • Good interpersonal relationships
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic research skills.

An officer at this level will work under supervision of the Senior Officer.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Assisting in implementation of ecotourism guidelines, codes of conduct and standards
  • Assisting in collection of data on ecotourism visitation, visitor trends and visitor feedback
  • Assisting in collection and dissemination of relevant promotional information
  • Assisting in participation in relevant exhibitions, shows and other special events
  • Assisting in conducting of familiarization trips for different stakeholders including potential investors, tour operators, travel agents and travel writers
  • Assisting in visitor liaison and guiding of special groups
  • Assisting in providing CFA liaison in ecotourism development
  • Assisting in monitoring environmental and socio-cultural impacts of ecotourism developments.
  • Participate in collection of data on ecotourism visitation, visitor trends and visitor feedback
  • Assist in collection and dissemination of relevant promotional information
  • Participate in relevant exhibitions, shows and other special events
  • Assist in conducting of familiarization trips for different stakeholders including potential investors, tour operators, travel agents and travel writers
  • Assist in visitor liaison
  • Participate in the inspection of the ecotourism enterprises
  • Assisting in monitoring environmental and socio-cultural impacts of ecotourism developments.
